Welcome to the Bio-inspired fluid flow lab at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

We’re interested in deciphering the principles that govern interactions between fluids and soft matter. We aim to develop new technologies to sense, characterize, and control transport in complex environments. We rely on advanced experimental techniques to study biological systems and behavior. We also develop and characterize bioinspired systems. We develop models to rationalize and generalize our results.

We currently focus on three topics: (1) transport in soft materials, (2) fluid-structure interactions, and (3) drops on biological or bio-inspired systems. To learn more about our activities, please get in touch.

We shared our work at the APS March meeting 2025 in Anaheim, CA. The team participated in Squishy Science Sunday, and Emilie gave an invited talk on printing in microgel suspensions.
